Preparing for a wedding can be very tasking because it requires a lot of time and resources. The best way to stay on budget is to hold your wedding at a venue that provides many of the components you need for a beautiful wedding.  When it comes to choosing a package, a couple must have an idea of what kind of wedding they want and how much they are willing to spend. Before closing a deal with a wedding professional or company, remember to check feedback and comments left by previous clients to ensure they are trusted. You should also know all the vital details including extra charges in case of excess hours using the wedding venue or additional costs if your guests exceed the expected numbers.

At times, the packages offered usually depend on the time of the year. There are months that you will find high discounts and free services. This is why you should check out all wedding packages before deciding on the package you want. A great wedding package should offer incredible and exceptional services that are also affordable. Make your wedding preparations stress free by finding the best wedding packages that fit your needs.   Here are a few wedding packages that the Mackey House provides.  http://mackeyhouse.com/event-pricing/

Should you Have an Evening or Daytime Wedding?

As a Savannah Georgia wedding venue you can imagine how many weddings we host a year.  The same question comes up during our consults..should we have an evening or daytime wedding?  Of course, Savannah weddings are beautiful anytime of the day so it comes down to your preference.

Perhaps if we shared a few guidelines and traditional elements of both types of weddings you’ll be able to make an educated decision:

EVENING WEDDING ELEMENTS

  • An evening wedding with reception to follow is a very common choice because most feel comfortable dancing and having a drink at night.  Of course if these elements aren’t important to you then perhaps a daytime wedding suits you better.
  • There’s something to be said about evening wedding intimacy that is different than a daytime wedding.  The lights are low, moonlight shining and typically people are in the mood for romance at night.

DAYTIME WEDDING ELEMENTS

  • For couples on a budget, daytime weddings are a good choice.  Guests won’t expect a large evening meal and they’ll more than likely drink less alcoholic beverages.  One thing to keep in mind though is that other Savannah wedding professionals won’t be able to book other events on the day of your wedding so you may be looking at a higher cost for services.

There’s no reason why you can’t combine the two times of day.  Why not have a daytime ceremony and an evening reception?  That way your once in a lifetime event can become a once in a lifetime day filled with good friends and memories to last forever.

Whether you choose a daytime Savannah wedding or an evening one, The Mackey House has hosted both and we’re ready to make your event spectacular.  What are your thoughts?  When you think of a wedding in Savannah, do you think daytime or evening..and why?

Planning the Menu 101

ID-100271699

When preparing your wedding, there a lot of things you need to take care of, the most important of which is perhaps the menu. It is your job to keep your gets satisfied and one of the best ways to do is with delightful food. It becomes even more important when you are having a destination wedding. And let’s face it by the end you are hungry too. So why prepare a menu with food that you would not want to eat either? Choosing which dishes should be on the menu at your wedding is very important in making sure your guests had a good time by attending.

Balanced Menu

For a very good wedding menu, the food has to be balanced. Some caterers have the tendency to include one particular food item in every dish, be it the appetizer, main course, or even dessert. While having chicken at for the appetizer and main course can be extremely fulfilling and tasty, it can also make the overall eating experience quite boring.

Be Considerate

Not only that, but you also have to keep in mind the various tastes of the people attending your wedding. It is a joyous occasion and should be treated like one. You do not want your uncle disgruntled by the fact that you did not include any vegetarian dishes for him, or that aunt who is allergic to nuts and, as a result, cannot have any of the desserts. If that happens, you are definitely in for a lifetime of listening to these complaints.

Now, you want your wedding to go perfectly, and food served has to be one of the best things in it. Talk with your caterers and let them know what your expectations for the food are. This will help you in making sure that your guests not only enjoy the wedding, but the food as well.
