Laura & Fred Mackey

Laura and Fred were both born in Savannah, GA

They were high school sweethearts who married in 1969. Recently, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal at The Mackey house. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

Fred served in the Navy and spent many years in real estate and together they opened a ballet school and childcare center in her parents beachside rental home. In the 1980’s they owned and operated 6 childcare centers. Today ABC Childcare is the oldest privately owned childcare center in Savannah. They still own and operate it today.

The Mackey House was born when the Mackey’s eldest daughter got married at their dream home before they even had a chance to move in. They immediately knew that their dream home and their love of entertaining was a perfect match.

The Mackey house was built on part of Laura’s grandfathers 400 acre dairy farm that she inherited from them in the 1970’s

Laura and Fred are very much involved in the day to day running of The Mackey House and are often found hosting events. They want people to feel at home when they are here. They are very attuned to southern hospitality and never meet a stranger.

Businesses they have run:

  • Beach Rentals
  • Flipping properties
  • Limo service
  • Summer Day Camp Childcare
  • Ballet school
