Fall planning keeps Summer cooler in Savannah, GA

Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but as mercury begins to rise – predicted to hit triple digits without the assistance of the heat index this weekend – we are starting to plan for Fall Events at The Mackey House.

Fall is a busy time of year, particularly around here.  Lots of Autumn Weddings, Corporate Events, and Family Gatherings tend to take place prior to the business that often follows the Winter Holidays.

A few things to keep in mind as you begin planning your Fall Events:

1)      Autumn Themes – we talk about themes frequently because of the energy given to a central idea particularly when planning the event décor – here are some great ideas (and pictures!) from Better Homes and Gardens for Fall Harvest Parties.

2)      Southern Weather – while it starts to get chilly earlier in the northern part of the states, we do start feeling an evening chill by mid-to-late October, maybe not what the northern transplants are used to, but it is sweater weather to us southerners!

3)      Food – fall food brings a completely different menu than Summer especially when it comes to feeding guests.  Foods typically served in Autumn are more savory and lean toward warm flavors straight from the harvest.  We found some fun ideas from The Food Network – and don’t forget squash season is fall…acorn, butternut, winter –YUM!!

4)      Beverages – Autumn is the time you can bring warm drinks into the picture as well – not just flavored coffees, but apple cider, hot cocoa, warm teas, steamers, and more – all the drinks that warm you from the inside!
