How to Avoid Getting Drunk at Your Wedding Reception
Of course, your wedding is a happy event (both for you as a couple and for the guests you have invited to be there for you). However, the last thing you want is to be tipsy at your own wedding! How to avoid getting drunk at your wedding reception, though? Here are some useful tips to keep in mind:
- Drink, but make sure to keep count. Now, if you are serving alcohol at your wedding, you will need to toast with your guests. However, you should make sure to keep count and to constantly remind yourself what your “maximum number” is. If you know you cannot hold more than 2-3 glasses of alcohol/night, don’t move past that!
- Eat something. Really, eat something before the wedding and at the wedding. Yes, you want to be able to fit in your dress and that’s perfectly normal. But having a healthy, nutritious breakfast before the Big Day starts will help you keep your energy levels high and it will help you avoid getting sick. Moreover, eating at least a bit at the wedding reception will also help you hold your liquor as well.
- Keep yourself hydrated. Remind yourself to drink water and other refreshments throughout the entire day, so that you don’t get dehydrated. Also, have a glass of soda/juice/water or a non-alcoholic cocktail in between your alcoholic drinks. This way, you will keep your hands busy and you will not feel the need to grab another glass of champagne.
