A magical place for weddings, gatherings and celebrations
Set within the historic Red Gate Farms landscape, The Mackey House shares in a story that began with Harry and Mamie Martin’s dairy farm in 1931. That legacy spans five generations and is carried forward by the Smith and Mackey families.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of this treasured land, The Mackey House welcomes weddings, corporate and community gatherings, and life’s most meaningful celebrations for up to 200 guests. Owned by Laura and Fred Mackey, the venue offers heartfelt Southern hospitality through a dedicated team whose thoughtful care makes every gathering feel personal and every guest feel welcome.

Laura & Fred Mackey
Laura and Fred were both born in Savannah, GA and were high school sweethearts. Fred served in the Navy and spent many years in real estate. In the 1980s, he and Laura owned and operated six childcare centers. Today, ABC Childcare is the oldest privately owned childcare business in Savannah. They still own and operate it today.
The Mackey House was built on part of Laura’s grandfather’s 440-acre dairy farm, inherited in the 1970s. The Mackey House was born when the Mackey’s eldest daughter got married at their dream home before they even had a chance to move in.
Laura and Fred are very much involved in the day-to-day running of the venue and are often found hosting events. They are very attuned to southern hospitality, treating everyone as a special guest—there are no “strangers” here!
“The Mackey House exceeded all expectations!!! Shelley & Dave are unbelievably responsive and knowledgeable during the planning process! Chevon was fabulous and between her and Dave’s day-of coordinating, our day was PERFECT! The scenery is second to none and our guests said it was the most amazing venue they have ever been to!”
